The Canning House Mexico-UK Summit

On April 9 Canning House convened the inaugural Mexico-UK Summit, a gathering of high-level figures from across the public and private sectors to discuss the bilateral relationship between two of the world’s largest economies. The headline takeaway from the conference was that the two countries already enjoy a healthy relationship, but in both diplomacy and business there is room and ample reason to expand.
Women Transforming Economics in Latin America

On Tuesday 25 March Canning House hosted Marcela Chapa and Manuel Maldonado to discuss the ongoing work of the Strategic Economics Alliance (SEA), which is part of UCL’s Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose.

Commemoration of the 247th anniversary of the birth of General José de San Martín

London, 25 February 2025 – The official commemoration of the 247th anniversary of the birth of General José de San Martín and the 30th anniversary of the inauguration of his statue in Belgrave Square took place with a moving event in London.
Governance in the Americas amid global polarisation

On Tuesday 25 February Canning House hosted the former President of Ecuador, Guillermo Lasso Mendoza, for a talk entitled ‘Governance in the Americas amid global polarisation’.
The former President opened the event by explaining that Latin America remains in a precarious situation with living conditions not significantly improving, and violence at alarming levels. He expressed worry for the public institutions and Western Democracy in Latin America.
