On Tuesday, 2 December, Canning House welcomed Ilan Goldfajn, the President of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), for an insightful roundtable. The President discussed UK-Latin America Trade, the Bank’s work with Brazil, and business opportunities in the region.

On Monday, 1 December, Canning House hosted the Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and former Vice-President of Costa Rica, Rebeca Grynspan. She discussed global trade, US policy, and the need for UN reform.

On the 6th of November, Canning House hosted a discussion with the Brazilian Ambassador to the UK, HE Antonio Patriota, and the former UK Regional Ambassador, Latin America and Caribbean, COP26, Fiona Clouder. The event offered an opportunity before COP30 begins to analyse the aims of the Brazilian government and likely outcomes for the UK at the upcoming Conference of Parties.

Canning House welcomed the Head of the OECD Centre for Latin America, Mario López Roldán, to a roundtable to discuss the ongoing work of the OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) in the region.

On October 30, Canning House hosted Jonathan Wilson, author of The Power and The Glory, A New History of the World Cup. He discussed his new book, which details the political side of the football World Cup, and reflected upon the enduring links between Latin America and the competition.

On Monday, 13 October, the Mining Minister of Chile, Aurora Williams, joined Canning House for a roundtable on the future of mining in Chile. She used the opportunity to stress recent developments in the mining industry in Chile and the continuing support of the government in the sector.
