As part of London Tech Week, Canning House and Amazon partnered for the UK-Latin America Tech Forum.
The 2026 edition of the UK-Latin American Forum focused on AI innovations and adoption in the region, and recognised the limitations of technology in achieving business goals.
The first panel explored how tech can assist organisations to scale their operations. The speakers praised technology’s ability to reach a wider range of users, but in Latin America, digital inclusion remains a barrier. One of the panellists specialises in the use of AI to monitor urban environments and enable better planning. This case study was used by the panel to investigate the limits of technology: the AI model needs to change for each city, and is ultimately reliant on local knowledge. The panellists agreed that while technology can transform an organisation’s capabilities, it is culture and individuals that make the difference.
The Chilean founder and CEO of Forest, Agustin Guilisasti, joined the event in a fireside chat. He explained how Forest, an electric bike provider in London, is changing our approach to mobility. Removing the concept of ownership from vehicles enables new journeys, with casual and one-way uses now possible, and removes the risks of theft for riders. Agustin has previously worked in Latin America, but was keen to stress that, for now, London is the perfect place to grow Forest with the scale of the market and evolving regulations.
Our second panel explored AI as a strategic asset. The panellists celebrated the widespread adoption of AI in the workplace but also warned that it must be integrated into businesses to target specific problems. One key challenge that organisations face is the need to increase AI fluency amongst the workforce to maximise its potential. At the same time, businesses need to develop their internal AI policies and establish where ultimate responsibility lies for decision-making.
The UK-Latin America Tech Forum showed the vibrancy, resilience, and innovation in the Latin American tech space and provided valuable reflections on key areas for further action. Canning House extends its thanks to all our panellists for their contributions, and to Amazon for partnering on this event.
