Latin American Ambassadorial Briefing

On 17 September, Canning House, the British Group Inter-Parliamentary Union (BGIPU) and the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Latin America hosted a parliamentary briefing with the British Ambassadors to Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica and Nicaragua, and Peru.

The meeting offered an opportunity for Members of Parliament and FCDO officials to hear from the Ambassadors on the current circumstances in their countries, and for the Ambassadors to speak on their experiences and insights from their postings.

At the briefing, we heard from:

HE Mark Kent, HM Ambassador to Ambassador

HE Jeff Glekin, HM Ambassador to Bolivia

Liz Davidson, Chargée d'Affaires at the British Embassy Brasilia

HE Ian Duddy, HM Ambassador to Chile

HE Ross Denny, HM Ambassador to Costa Rica & Nicaragua

HE Kate Harrisson, HM Ambassador to Peru

The session was chaired by Mark Menzies MP, Chair of the APPG for Latin America. We also heard introductory remarks from Cristina Cortes, Canning House CEO, and Rick Nimmo, Director of the BGIPU.

Following the Ambassadors' presentations, the session was opened to questions from our audience.

Canning House would like to thank the Ambassadors for their insights, the BGIPU and APPG for their co-hosting, and our audience for their engagement and questions.
