Canning House was greatly saddened to hear of the death of Sebastián Piñera, former President of Chile, on 6 February.
In Chile, a period of national mourning has begun and a state funeral will take place in due course.
Mr Piñera was a prominent figure in Chilean politics over a period spanning decades. He delivered the Canning Lecture in 2012, during his first of two terms as Chile’s president.
Our thoughts are with his loved ones at this tragic time.
