UK restrictions on travel from South America
- Canning House
On 15 January, the UK government introduced restrictions on travel from the countries of South America, Panama, Portugal and Cape Verde.
In autumn 2018, the House of Commons Foreign Affairs Committee launched an inquiry into the effectiveness of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s approach towards South America, focusing on political and economic developments in the region, key trading industries, security and human rights, the impact of extractives and climate change on development, intra-regional relations, the role of the FCO in the region, as well as external state actors.
Canning House provided oral and written evidence for the report, highlighting both the opportunities and barriers to closer relations with the region.
