13/05/2021 - ​Colombia’s Duque under fire for empathy deficit

With over 42 dead and higher numbers listed as missing as a result of three weeks of protests and violence that have convulsed Colombia, both sides are now trying to initiate a dialogue. But a first meeting between President Iván Duque and the strike committee on 10 May did not go particularly well. Protest leaders argued that Duque lacked “empathy” for their demands.
