On Thursday 15 June, during London Tech Week, Canning House and the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) welcomed senior representatives from major innovative Latin American technology companies to a roundtable at Google’s London headquarters. Business leaders exchanged cutting-edge ideas in robotics and AI, and discussed the possibility for strengthening collaboration in technology bilaterally and regionally.
Following introductions from Jeremy Browne, CEO of Canning House and Santiago de la Mora, Managing Director Global Partnerships EMEA at Google, the discussion was kickstarted by introductory remarks from Tim Kay, Director of Technology at DBT who unveiled the opportunities that the UK’s technology ecosystem can offer Latin America.
Moderated by Dr. Chris Moore, Tech Specialist at DBT, the roundtable discussion brought together senior representatives of technology companies from across Latin America. The roundtable discussion allowed participants to reflect on their key takeaways from London Tech Week and how they may be applied to their respective companies, sectors, and countries. Secondly, the discussion zoomed in on AI and robotics to explore how new technology may benefit Latin America’s traditional powerhouses such as mining and agriculture; strategies for introducing these technologies into the region’s smaller economies; and their diverse applications to multiple industries such as finance, customer services, and the medical sector.
Following these productive discussions, participants further explored the potential for collaboration between their countries and companies during the networking reception.
Canning House thanks its partner for the event, the Department for Business Trade; our hosts, Google HOLA; and all of our speakers and participants for their cutting-edge insights.
