On Tuesday 26 September, Canning House held a roundtable in partnership with the Embassy of Brazil in London, welcoming Minister Sonia Guajajara, Brazil's Minister for Indigenous Peoples.

In light of the Brazilian government's renewed commitment to the human rights agenda, a dedicated ministry has been established to safeguard and promote the rights of Brazil's indigenous citizens. At this roundtable in London, Minister Guajajara presented the ministry's key policies and priorities. She stated that with the creation of the Indigenous Ministry, President Luis Inácio Lula da Silva has illustrated that his government values Brazil's indigenous populations.

This exclusive roundtable, held with representatives of academia, business, NGOs and senior diplomats from Brazil offered an opportunity to hear from and speak with Minister Guajajara on these critical subjects, hosted in Canning House's unique central London setting.

Canning House thanks Minister Guajajara for her insights, the Embassy of Brazil for its partnership, and the attendees at this roundtable for their interest and engagement.
