Latin American Student Societies Forum

The Latin American Student Societies Forum brought together leaders of student societies from across the UK to reflect on shared activities, challenges and opportunities. A key feature of all of the societies present was cultural programmes that are aimed at celebrating and projecting Latinx identity within universities.

Professional activities were highlighted as another key opportunity for the societies. The London Business School will be hosting a Latin American Business Forum, and the University of Oxford will host the Latin American Business Summit. These events will connect Latin American talent with businesses with an interest in the region and showcase the region as a destination for investment.

Finally, the forum highlighted the need for a greater academic focus on Latin America. Within UK academia, certain students felt that the region was neglected in comparison to Africa and Asia. To combat this, the societies host academic speakers to demonstrate the importance of critical engagement with the region.
