Exploring Investment Opportunities in Guatemala

On 27 April, Canning House and LatAm INVESTOR held a conference on investment opportunities in Guatemala, Central America's largest economy. Our speakers at the conference included Tony Malouf, Guatemala's Minister of Economy until March 2022; Fiona Clouder, Regional Ambassador for Latin America at COP26; Maria Eugenia Tabush, Director of Invest Guatemala; and Jack Lundin, CEO of Bluestone Resources within the Lundin Group.

The high-level discussions at the conference focused on Guatemala's strategies for generating and attracting investment for key sectors and infrastructure, such as tourism, agritech, mining and digitalisation, and on where opportunities lie for foreign investors. Also covered were the Guatemala faces in attracting investment, especially on corruption and rule of law, and how greater Central American market integration could prove beneficial.

We were also joined at the conference by HE Ambassador José Alberto Briz, Guatemalan Ambassador to the UK; Alfredo Mordezki of Santander Asset Management; and Peter Snell from Centurion Security.

Canning House thanks LatAm INVESTOR for its partnership on this event, our panellists for their excellent contributions, and our audience.

LatAm INVESTOR will shortly be launching the latest edition of their magazine online, with a special report on Guatemala. Keep an eye on the LatAm INVESTOR website for more.
