On Tuesday 2 July, Canning House celebrated the arrival of summertime in the United Kingdom at its annual Summer Reception.
Held at Lima Cantina, a Peruvian restaurant in London’s bustling Covent Garden, the evening was excellently attended by Canning House’s friends and colleagues.
With senior diplomats including several Ambassadors to and from Latin America, business leaders representing a huge variety of sectors, foreign affairs and trade officials, academics, analysts and journalists all in attendance, it was a night of lively conversation, music and delicious food and drink.
To a packed venue, Jeremy Browne, Canning House’s CEO, delivered a short speech to welcome attendees and thank them for their support of the organisation, in a year in which it has continued to go from strength to strength in its packed programme of conferences, seminars and roundtables.
Next, Alderman Professor Michael Mainelli, the Lord Mayor of the City of London, addressed the room with words celebrating both historic and future ties between the City, the UK, and Latin America, and hailing the opportunity presented by Canning House’s Summer Reception to deepen those relationships.
As the evening continued, guests were treated to a selection of Peruvian canapés, pisco sours, sumptuous Intipalka wine and mouthwatering mocktails.
Looking ahead to the rest of the year at Canning House, highlights include the 9th edition of the UK-Brazil Conversa, coming up in September in São Paulo; analysis of the United States’ pivotal election’s implications for Latin America; more high-level conferences in our Sustainable Trade and Investment Series; the LatAm Outlook 2025; and much, much more.
Canning House thanks the Lord Mayor for his participation in our Summer Reception; Lima Cantina for helping to make our celebration so special; and our friends and colleagues for their support of the organisation.
