Building UK-LatAm business links, with Sarah Howard MBE

On Tuesday 26 October, Canning House welcomed Sarah Howard MBE, Chair of the British Chambers of Commerce, to our latest Business Breakfast. She discussed "Building Business between Britain and LatAm" with a roundtable of senior corporate, trade and political representatives.

Issues discussed over breakfast included the enormous heterogeneity of Latin American products and trade, just as in the markets themselves - one attendee noted that the distance between London and Mexico City is not incomparable with the distance from Mexico City to many others in Latin America; the competition faced by British businesses from other countries such as Canada, France and Spain; and a need to reciprocate the "tremendous good will" felt for the UK throughout Latin American business.

Also attending the breakfast was Marco Longhi MP, the Prime Minister's Trade Envoy to Brazil, who spoke for a few moments to offer his perspective on doing business with Brazil, including the progress represented by the 2022 Double Taxation Agreement, and on the country's investment environment.

Canning House thanks Sarah for her insightful contribution to this morning's Business Breakfast, and our attendees for their lively and engaged discussion of building UK-Latin America business ties.
