British priorities for Brazilian Trade

Lord Evans of Sealand, Britain's Trade Envoy to Brazil, joined Canning House for a roundtable discussion about promoting greater commercial activity between the two countries.

Lord Evans reflected on his own impressions of the potential of Brazil, as the biggest economy in Latin America. The conversation covered opportunities not just in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, but also in other major business centres across Brazil.

Alignment with the priorities of the new British Prime Minister were also discussed, including re-industrialisation and devolution.

Lord Evans also explained practical ways in which he was enthusiastic about helping British businesses. These included seeking to remove practical barriers to trade, identifying sectors which are overlooked, and better understanding which measures would persuade Brazilian businesses to invest and locate in Britain.

The event was attended by a large and diverse group of senior business leaders with a professional interest in Brazil. They and Canning House were very grateful to Lord Evans for his time and insights.
