Canning House and Casa de América are proudly partnering again to deliver their second joint conference, ‘Wired for Growth: Infrastructure and Energy in Latin America, Spain, and the UK’. This multilateral conference will reconvene over 100 leaders from industry, government, and academia to explore avenues for collaboration and knowledge sharing in infrastructure and energy between Latin America, Spain, and the UK.
Conference
Wired for Growth: Infrastructure and Energy in Latin America, Spain, and the UK
- Casa de América, Plaza de Cibeles, 2, 28014, Madrid, Spain
- 17:00 - 20:30

Against a global backdrop of supply chain disruptions, digitisation and AI, smart cities, and demands for pragmatic and cost-effective approaches to the energy transition, Latin America, Spain, and the UK offer complementary strengths.
As ambitious transport and infrastructure projects unfold, they will only succeed if underpinned by a sustainable and reliable energy supply to power them. Latin America has established itself as a global leader in renewable energy and climate action, a role reinforced by Brazil’s presidency of COP30 in Belém in November 2025. Spanish and UK companies are playing a pivotal role in this transformation, bringing innovation and investment to projects that underpin both the energy transition and the digital economy.
While renewable energy is rapidly expanding to support the transition, the question now turns to balancing this ambition with economic pragmatism — optimising Latin America’s oil and gas reserves to meet the surging electricity demands of AI and data centres.
Against this backdrop, the conference will focus on two central themes: how digitisation and AI are reshaping infrastructure, and how pragmatic approaches to the energy transition can meet surging demand while driving sustainable growth. Together, these themes reflect the dual challenge of building smarter, data-driven systems while ensuring the energy backbone is strong enough to sustain them.
