Elkin Velásquez Monsalve will draw on his expertise as Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean at the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), and his experience of the Programme's work to address Latin America's challenges of security and violence through sustainable urban development.

Lucía López Esquivelzeta

Senior Consultant in Markets and Partnerships at Control Risks

Lucía López Esquivelzeta's work at Control Risks to manage security risks in Latin America and around the globe provides her the expertise to speak on how challenges of security and violence can affect corporations, international development organisations, NGOs and educational institutions, and what can be done to mitigate against them.

Professor Jenny Pearce

Research Professor, Latin America and Caribbean Centre, London School of Economics

Professor Jenny Pearce of the the LSE's Latin America and Caribbean Centre, author of new book Politics without Violence?, will speak on her comparative, South-North learning approach to challenges of violence and security, bridging knowledge gaps between Latin American cities and the de-industrialised north of England.
