Canning House’s Opportunities Series examines, through various lenses, the opportunities and obstacles faced by disadvantaged groups in Latin America.

The second event, Opportunities and Race, considers the approaches to tackling racial inequalities.

What opportunities – for economic security, political & social influence, and personal fulfilment – do black, indigenous and ethnic minority peoples have in 21st Century Latin America?

What strategies,
policies and regulations are needed to deliver equal opportunities?

How does the UK
compare?

How can we collaborate to help one another?

The panel currently includes Zamila Bunglawala, Deputy Director of the Race Disparity Unit at the Cabinet Office, Peter Wade, Professor of Social Anthropology at the University of Manchester, and Ana María González Forero, Director of FEM (who will participate remotely).

You can read about the first event, Opportunities and Gender, here.

Ticket price includes wine and nibbles.

Students will be asked to show their student card on entry to the event.
