Gabriel Oddone is Uruguay’s Minister of Economy. He holds a PhD in Economic History from the University of Barcelona and a degree in Economics from the University of the Republic in Uruguay. He served as Professor of Economic Policy at the University of the Republic from 1988 to 2024.
His expertise is widely recognised internationally. He has worked as a consultant for leading institutions, including the Inter-American Development Bank, the World Bank, CAF – Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean, and the United Nations Development Programme.
He is also a well-regarded author in the fields of political economy, economic growth and international trade, with extensive contributions to the analysis of Latin America’s economic development.
