Canning Lecture: H.E President Santiago Peña Palacios

  • July

Canning House is honoured to announce that the President of Paraguay, H.E. Santiago Peña Palacios, will be delivering the latest iteration of the Canning Lecture. Established in 1997, the Canning Lecture series is traditionally delivered by a President or Head of Government from Latin America or the Iberian Peninsula. On this occasion, the Lecture will be delivered by the incumbent President of Paraguay.

Canning House is delighted that the President of Paraguay, H.E. Santiago Peña Palacios, will be delivering the Canning Lecture.

Having been elected in 2023, the president continues to champion economic growth and prosperous business in Paraguay while expanding infrastructure and social access across the country.

This Lecture will provide an opportunity to hear about President Peña Palacios' plans to continue developing Paraguay's economy and transform the country into a hub for digital business. He will reflect upon Paraguay's enduring relationship with the UK.

Originally a economist, President Peña Palacios has worked in the Central Bank of Paraguay, and as the Minister of Finance. He has also held teaching positions at various universities in Paraguay and the USA.
