A conversation with

Estela de Carlotto

President of the Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo Association

Canning House, in partnership with the Embassy of Argentina, are pleased to host A conversation with Estela de Carlotto. Estela is President of Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo and a leading figure in the defence and promotion of human rights worldwide.

Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo was established in 1977 in response to the forced or involuntary disappearance of hundreds of children following the advent of Argentina’s military dictatorship; some abducted alongside their parents or after their parents were killed, others born in clandestine detention centres. Since her joining, de Carlotto and the Association have reunited many missing and kidnapped children with their families, and have actively promoted the cause around the world.

The Conversation is part of de Carlotto's official UK visit in commemoration of the Argentine National Day of Memory, Truth and Justice, and will be led by Alessandra M. Viggiano Marra, Minister of Culture at the Embassy of Argentina.

This event will be conducted in Spanish with simultaneous translation into English.

Entry will only be permitted to those that have pre-registered with Canning House.
