Decision time in Buenos Aires
In Mexico, the ruling Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI) is on edge ahead of mid-term and state elections in June, after President Enrique Peña Nieto has come up against the reality of the country’s still parlous security situation, which has infested the State and threatens to scupper his ambitious structural reform agenda. And in Venezuela the very future of the Bolivarian Revolution seems to be in play this legislative election year, as the government led by President Nicolás Maduro struggles to cope with a severe oil price shock and the ruling Partido Unido Socialista de Venezuela (PSUV) runs the risk of an unprecedented punishment vote.
