Once again, efforts to negotiate a solution to the Venezuelan crisis are getting
bogged down. US President Donald Trump appears distracted by other
matters. Officials in Washington are still on the case, but they have changed
tack, and are now focusing on a longer-term objective of whittling away
support for the de facto president, Nicolás Maduro, among the military and
his international supporters, primarily Cuba, Russia, and China.
