Canning House is delighted to welcome the British Ambassador to the Dominican Republic and Haiti, Steven Fisher, to speak at a round-table briefing aimed at corporate members. Ambassador Fisher is leaving his post in October and so this briefing will present his final reflections and experiences as outgoing Ambassador to the island after beginning his post in December 2009.

Ambassador Fisher will provide attendees with an assessment of the two countries’ political and economic climate, as well as highlighting opportunities for business and investment.

Steven Mark Fisher arrived in the Dominican Republic on 13th December 2009 to take up his post as Her Majesty’s Ambassador. He presented his credentials to President Leonel Fernandez the following day. On joining the FCO, Steven spent two years working on European Union issues in London before taking up a three year posting as 2nd Secretary (Economic/Commercial) in Singapore. Returning to London in 1998, Steven joined Eastern Department as the Head of Section covering Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova. After a further period in European Union Department as Head of Public Diplomacy, Steven was posted to Caracas in 2002 as Deputy Head of Mission
