Argentina Votes 2015 - Post-Primaries Scene-Setter

The Argentine presidential primary elections took place on 9 August to ascertain which candidates would be put forward to run in the general election later this year, which is due to take place on 25 October 2015, with a second round on 24 November if required.

The Argentine presidential primary elections took place on 9 August to ascertain which candidates would be put forward to run in the general election later this year, which is due to take place on 25 October 2015, with a second round on 24 November if required.

Current president Cristina Fernández de Kirchner to unable to stand for another term due to constitutional impediment. The results from the primary elections, as predicted, appear to show three front runners: Mauricio Macri of the Republican Proposal, Daniel Scioli of the Front for Victory / Justicialist Party, and Sergio Massa of the United for a New Argentina party, with Scioli emerging as the early leader.

This panel discussion look at the results of these primary elections and how it sets the scene for general election taking place in October. The event will speculate as to what the eventual results might be, and discuss the implications of these results.
